Honesty
Let’s talk honesty real quick. There are far too many people who don’t like the honest truth. We, as humans, tend to not want to hear the truth unless it’s what we want to hear. Yes, honesty can suck. It can hit you like a ton of bricks and leave you hurt or confused, but we need to hear it. If we want to be able to improve ourselves and the work we do, we need the honest truth no matter what that is.
That’s only half of it too. We need to be open to hearing that and not taking personal offense to that honesty. I’m not always the best at this, although I’m learning to be because I want to keep improving. That honesty can open my eyes to areas of my life or project that I need to improve on.
I am an honest person. If you want me to tell you what I think, I will (sometimes even when you don’t want to hear it). I recently lost a friend due to them wanting me to be honest with them, which wasn’t what they were wanting to hear. I get honesty can be frustrating, but I’d like to try and help those I am close to improve with their daily lives and the projects they are starting.
If I wanted my friend to be honest with me, I’d like that. Yes, sometimes it could make me upset a bit, but I’d get around to seeing where she was right. Our friends offer us a different view from what we have, which is very valuable. Don’t forget to appreciate your friends and the viewpoint they add to your life! (as well as their honesty)
